Working through conflict: Mastering the process

This workshop will take conflict management to the next level, allowing participants to experience a clear process to work through conflict situations. Case studies will be used, and participants will have the opportunity to apply these practical tips.

This event is being presented through a collaboration of the Alberta Medical Association’s Professional Affairs Branch, Physician and Family Support Program and Accelerating Change Transformation Team (ACTT).

Meet the presenters:

Dr. Amanda BriseboisDr. Amanda Brisebois, Medical Advisor, Professional Affairs

Dr. Amanda Brisebois is an ICF certified Wellness and Executive Coach (specialization in team and health care coaching), a general internal medicine and palliative medicine specialist, a certified mediator, and has extensive training in conflict, negotiation, equity, diversity and inclusion. She has served as the medical director for a large 360 bed hospital through the COVID pandemic, the medical director of the Covenant Palliative Care Institute, as well as an associate chief medical officer of Covenant Health. She has a Masters of International Health Leadership through McGill University and has trained at multiple world renowned organizations including the Mayo Clinic, Berkeley, Oxford, UBC and the Justice Institute of British Columbia. Her leadership specialty is helping practitioners and teams find success through conflict by learning from these successes to create happier, more efficient, and more effective healthcare teams. She is a clinical professor at the University of Alberta and is a multi-award-winning teacher. She has spoken at many international events, and she is a published author in her fields of expertise.

Michelle Hannay, Senior Consultant, ACTT

Michele HannayMichele Hannay has a passion for supporting the physicians and teams who care for Alberta patients. As a Certified Executive Coach, LEADS in a Caring Environment Specialist and Senior Consultant with Alberta Medical Association (Accelerating Change Transformation Team), she particularly enjoys supporting physicians in building transformational leadership skills and discovering the joy that comes from leading healthy, effective teams.  
She is also mother to two young adults, sings in a choir that drinks wine, and boldly explores a variety of art forms (involving both mixed media and mixed results).
