AHS growth charts

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has implemented a new childhood growth monitoring initiative to standardize measurement process and introduce a common growth chart across the province.

The Canadian Pediatric Endocrine Group (CPEG) growth chart was chosen after consultation with key stakeholders, including physicians.

By providing resources and training, AHS is also supporting other health professionals, including family doctors and primary care networks, to adopt the CPEG growth charts and measurement processes. This will help create consistency across all areas of health care.

Childhood growth is a key way of monitoring the health of infants, children and adolescents. Regular growth monitoring using standardized, evidence-based tools and practices helps to ensure accurate and timely identification of growth concerns leading to early intervention and family support.
