The Alberta Medical Association is currently recruiting for the full-time role of Administrative Support with our Physician Locum Services (PLS) program, located in Edmonton.
The AMA is the official voice of the medical profession in Alberta. It stands as an advocate for its physician members and provides them with leadership and support in the provision of quality health care. For more information on the AMA please visit our website at www.albertadoctors.org.
The AMA PLS is a physician retention initiative of the AMA, Alberta Health and the Rural Physician Action Plan (RPAP) and is administered by the AMA. It is dedicated to providing replacement locum-physician services in rural Alberta for family physicians and regional centers for specialists. The program is designed to be responsive to physicians taking leave for balanced lifestyle.
Position overview
The Administrative Support, PLS is an entry level administrative position that provides support to the PLS team, rural physicians and locums. This position will work closely with locum physicians; therefore, we are looking for someone who is professional, team oriented and has a positive attitude.
In this role, you will:
- Ensure all documents, including letter agreements and hospital privileges are completed and signed before the Locum’s assignment start date.
- Make travel and accommodation arrangements for physicians on locum assignments.
- File and/or archive PLS documentation electronically.
- Establish and maintain relationships with locum physicians, AHS staff and other stakeholders.
- Prepare AH rejected claims reports for the PLS billing department and locum physicians, by request.
- Assist with the logistics and organization of PLS recruitment activities at various events.
- Stay well informed about the Physician Locum Services programs.
- Provide administrative support for the Director, PLS and the PLS Steering Committee, as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma with two-to-four years of office administrative experience.
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, as well as a sound understanding of computer applications.
- Work in a professional manner, displaying integrity, independence and the ability to work with a diverse group of people in a respectful manner.
- Team oriented, proactive in relationships, adaptable, responsible and ethical.
- Superior organizational abilities and skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Positive attitude
- Be an effective and supportive member of the PLS team
