Media Relations and Social Media Training

The AMA is offering training in social media and media (beginner and intermediate). There are several sessions to choose from:

Social Media 101

  • Dates: December 16, February 25 or April 14
  • Times: All events are 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Members will walk away from this social media training session feeling more comfortable and confident in navigating social media platforms and understanding how to create strategic and engaging content for advocacy efforts, amplifying positive messages, mitigating criticism and more. You may use social media personally but this session will teach you how to approach social from a professional and strategic perspective. This session will be hosted by Linda Hoang.

Media Relations 101

  • Dates: November 9, January 13 or March 17
  • Times: All events are 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

A one-hour introductory session on the state of the industry and how media work and who’s reporting these days; preparing for your interview; tips, dos and don’ts, bridging techniques and dealing with stinker questions.

Media Relations 201

  • Dates: November 18 or February 18
  • Times: Both events are 1 – 4 p.m.

This is a three-hour session for those who anticipate doing a lot of media. Training involves working up messages, doing mock interviews, receiving feedback (and trying again if there’s time). Space is limited for this session.
