Primary Care Leadership Bursary

Interested in becoming a primary care leader? We have a bursary for that!

Applications now being accepted

The Alberta Medical Association Primary Care Alliance Board is awarding bursaries to AMA members working within primary care who are planning to attend the LEADS-certified facilitator training in Calgary, October 3-7.

The LEADS framework provides an industry-standard Canadian approach to health system leadership. The dimensions of the framework represent the collective wisdom of the current literature on health leadership, leadership development and the capabilities required by leaders dedicated to making meaningful health system change.

The goal of this bursary is to:

  • Alleviate some of the costs associated with the LEADS training including registration and the associated travel.
    or
  • To offset overhead costs aimed to further develop physician competencies within leadership.

Amount

Bursaries are up to $5,000 each depending on available funds and the expressed action plan of the applicant. The awards disbursed depend on the funds available, the number of applications and each applicant’s level of expressed financial need.

Eligibility

The bursary is available to AMA members (residents or practicing physicians) who work within primary care and are in good standing. Applicants must submit an action plan including (but not limited to) full details about the leadership training being sought, their overall goals within leadership and how the course/training supports those goals, a statement of financial need and a budget.

Deadline for Applications

Applications must be received by August 30. We will contact the successful recipients by September 12.
