Primary Care Networks

Primary Care Networks (PCNs) are not-for-profit organizations supported by an agreement between the Alberta Medical Association, Alberta Health (AH) and Alberta Health Services (AHS). PCNs are collaborations between local physician groups and AHS Zones to enhance comprehensive primary care services in a specific geographic area.

The Bighorn Primary Care Network (BHPCN), formerly Grande Cache Primary Care Network, was established in 2013 and expanded its geography in 2015 to include Hinton and the surrounding area. The BHPCN provides clinical programming to the residents of the region, and works to support the 15 physicians in Grande Cache and Hinton as they deliver primary care services.

The Position

The position of Executive Director of the BHPCN is an executive level position reporting to an elected Board of Directors from a Physician Not for Profit Corporation (NPC). The Executive Director is accountable for all PCN operations including the creation and implementation of a three year business plan, achieving key results, productively engaging stakeholders, developing policy, procedures/practices that support effective program delivery, effective integration of the PCN’s goals, objectives and programs with those of the participating physicians and AH and AHS.

This position is a permanent 1.0 FTE, and will be based in either Grande or Hinton. Regular travel is required between the two locations as well as occasional trips to Edmonton to Calgary to attend conferences, training, meetings, etc.

It is preferred that the candidate possess a Masters degree in an area of business administration, health administration or human resources (baccalaureate required) as well as five-to-ten years progressive experience at a mid- to senior management level. Equivalencies will be considered. Experience in areas of operations management, project management and multidisciplinary team management would be an asset. The candidate should also have proven leadership and business acumen together with experience in consensus building and conflict resolution. A demonstrated background of building high-performing multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple stakeholder relationships will be regarded highly.

This position offers executive level compensation based on experience.
