Primary Care Networks

Primary Care Networks are not-for-profit organizations supported by an agreement between the Alberta Medical Association, Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services. PCNs are collaborations between local physician groups and AHS Zones to enhance comprehensive primary care services in a geographic area.

The McLeod River Primary Care Network (MRPCN) was established in 2009 and currently employs 27 staff to assist 39 physicians (located in five clinics) in delivering primary care in Edson, Whitecourt, Fox Creek, and Mayerthorpe. The two main offices are located in the larger communities of Edson and Whitecourt. This position requires regular travel between the two offices as well as occasional travel to Fox Creek and Mayerthorpe.

The Position

The position of Executive Director of the MRPCN is an executive position reporting to an elected physician Board of Directors. The Executive Director is accountable for all PCN operations, including business and financial planning as well as the management of financial and human resources. The Executive Director directs the interaction of PCN staff with the participating PCN primary care physicians based in the community. The Executive Director is responsible for developing and optimizing policy, procedures, and practices that support and ensure quality program delivery, effectively integrating the PCN’s goals, objectives and programs with those of participating physicians and Alberta Health Services under the direction of the Board of the NPC.

The candidate should possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a preference to a degree in business administration, health administration, human resources management, or a clinical degree. This position requires experience in areas of operations management, project management and multidisciplinary team management. The candidate should have proven leadership and business acumen, together with experience in consensus building and conflict resolution. It is essential to have a demonstrated background of building and leading high-performing multidisciplinary teams, managing multiple stakeholder relationships and ensuring interpersonal awareness and collaboration internally and externally.

This position offers executive level compensation based on experience and education. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE).
