Update on KRA 1, Financial Health

The board established a preliminary business plan for 2016-17. Many of the activities specified in that business plan focused on securing agreement and/or a mandate to move forward in areas of importance to the profession. The Amending Agreement created a joint mandate and established the mechanism to advance in many of the areas identified by the board in its original plan. As a result, implementation of the activities outlined in the Amending Agreement became a key focus for second part of the year.

The AMA assists and supports members in maintaining their financial health. This includes negotiating with payers to ensure fair compensation, the provision of practice management services and the offering of financial products. Members in training are supported through a number of scholarships and bursaries.
