Overhead Review RFP

Alberta Health and the AMA are seeking a Proponent to research and estimate physician overhead costs and develop an analytic approach in order to provide Alberta Health and the AMA, through the Physician Compensation Committee, with a better understanding of the various components of physician overhead and the variation in overhead costs across different medical sections, practice types [private office, Alberta Health Services (AHS) facilities], geographical locations, practice sizes, and over time.

The global objectives of this Project are to:

1) Complete a strategic review of physician overhead;

2) Develop a framework to represent and understand physician business costs, and to ensure reasonable and fair compensation between physicians in different practice environments; and

3) Gain real-world values regarding overhead as well as developing a ‘model office’ in which ‘consideration for reasonableness’ is taken into account.
