Call for applications: Physician Compensation Committee

March 12, 2019

The AMA is currently recruiting a primary care physician to fill a position on the Physician Compensation Committee. The deadline to apply is April 1.

The PCC was formed in 2013 pursuant to the Alberta Medical Association Agreement. Membership consists of up to three members appointed from each of Alberta Health and the AMA, as well as an independent chair. AMA members include two physician representatives and one senior staff member (AED Health Economics).

The PCC is responsible for operating and managing matters of physician compensation, plans and programs. Specific responsibilities for this committee include:

  • Managing the allocation process for changes in rates under the SOMB;
  • Reviewing and managing the distribution of funding among medically insured medical services, plans and programs;
  • Reviewing and potentially adjusting selected rates for medically insured medical services and ARP rates, including those for the clinical medical services component of AARPs;
  • Reviewing and determining prices for the Rural Remote Northern Program, Physician On Call and the Business Cost Programs.

The AMA advances patient-centered, quality care by advocating for and supporting physician leadership and wellness.
