RF meeting cancelled

March 11, 2020

The AMA has been consulting with public health leaders with respect to holding the Representative Forum in the current COVID 19 pandemic, which the World Health Organization has just announced.

As of today we believe there is too much risk in bringing this many physicians together and the March 13-14 Representative Forum meeting has been cancelled. The Board of Directors will have a teleconference this evening to consider the outcome of the two days of meetings with government this week. We will also be working towards a virtual RF meeting in the near future.

In terms of cancellations:

  • Those with hotel reservations may cancel by using the link in their reservation confirmation, or by calling your hotel directly (if the Edmonton Westin, 780.426.3636).
  • The AMA will reimburse cancellation costs (e.g., airline change fees or hotel penalties).
  • The AMA will reimburse honoraria if you’re unable to rebook patients.

Please use the standard AMA expense claim form to claim these expenses. Submit your claim form to Linda Scott (linda.scott@albertadoctors.org).

We apologize for cancelling so close to RF, but with the evolving situation the decision was made in the best interests of our members and their patients.

AMA President Dr. Christine Molnar will be communicating to the membership on these matters as soon as possible.

The AMA advances patient-centered, quality care by advocating for and supporting physician leadership and wellness.
