Update from the IFHP

December 20, 2016

Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)

Important Information for all Providers

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is moving to a ten-digit client ID (Unique Client Identifier – UCI) number to accommodate an increasing number of applicants. Effective December 15, 2016, ten-digit UCIs will be issued to new beneficiaries of the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP). Client IDs for existing beneficiaries will not change.

The Medavie Blue Cross claims system only accepts up to a nine-digit UCI. Therefore, when submitting claims electronically or on paper for any beneficiaries with a ten-digit UCI, please enter only the last nine digits of the UCI. Do not enter the first digit of the UCI.

For example: UCI 1101234567 becomes 101234567. The first digit (1) is removed.

Additional information can be found on the Medavie Blue Cross provider website at https://provider.medavie.bluecross.ca/. If you have questions, please contact the Medavie Blue Cross Customer Information Centre at 1-888-614-1880.
