Dr. Jim Silvius

Dr. Jim Silvius obtained his BA in Physiology and Psychology from Oxford University, UK, his MD and Specialty in Internal Medicine from University of Alberta, and his Specialty in Geriatric Medicine from Dalhousie University.

Returning to Alberta in 1990, he has been in practice as a Geriatrician since and is now based in Calgary. He currently holds administrative appointments as Provincial Medical Director for Seniors Health and Senior Medical Director, Seniors Health SCN with AHS.

He is a previous Chair of both the Alberta Health Expert Committee on Drug Evaluation and Therapeutics (ECDET), and the Alberta Health Services Drugs and Therapeutics Committee (DTC). He is the current Chair of the Canadian Drug Expert Committee with the national Common Drug Review process.
