WCB agreement: Exercise your right!

June 16 update:

Ratification vote now closed

Dear Members:

The vote for the tentative WCB-AMA Agreement closes on Tuesday, June 16 at 4 p.m. and it is important that you vote now.

The AMA Board of Directors is endorsing this agreement that has been negotiated by the AMA on your behalf. It is an agreement for all of us, representing successful work by the AMA and WCB negotiating teams to identify and address common interests at the table.

The WCB highly values and respects the services that physicians provide, even during challenging economic times, and this is reflected through modest overall rate increases identified in the tentative agreement. Both parties were able to address all of their major issues at the negotiating table. Issues relating to expediency, economics, reporting and quality were all resolved amicably.

We can all take an interest in an agreement that values the work we do as physicians. Whether you provide WCB services now or may provide some services in the future, or you simply want to exercise your right as an AMA member, please vote.

You have four days left. Again, voting closes Tuesday, June 16 at 4 p.m. You’ll find everything you need on the AMA website to make an informed decision and cast your vote.

In your service,

Christine P. Molnar, MD, FRCPC

President, Alberta Medical Association
