Committee Details
The AMA Committee on Bylaws reviews proposed amendments to the bylaws, provides at least 60 days’ notice of proposed changes, and submits them to the membership for a vote at the Annual General Meeting.
If the bylaws are approved at the Annual General Meeting, they are filed with the Alberta Corporate Registry, a process that may take up to six months. The approved amendments take effect once filing is complete.
The Committee on Bylaws is comprised of the following members:
- Three (3) Members appointed by the Board, together with the President, President-Elect and Member of the secretariat appointed by the Board.
Serving on the Committee on Bylaws involves:
- A minimum of once per year meeting in June (approximately 3 hours virtually)
- Review of meeting materials
- Additional meetings as required
