The AMA’s Section of Emergency Medicine, which represents over 600 emergency physicians across Alberta, has issued a letter of support for Dr. Kaitlin Stockton, an emergency physician in British Columbia. The letter responds to Dr. Stockton’s recent dismissal following her efforts to raise concerns about unsafe conditions in her emergency department — a situation that has sparked national attention.
It highlights growing concern over the silencing of physicians who advocate for patient safety and system reform. The Section of Emergency Medicine unequivocally affirms the autonomy of all physicians and defends their right — and professional duty — to speak out publicly for patient safety and system improvement.
We encourage you to read the full letter. To further support this cause, consider signing and sharing Dr. Stockton’s petition: Stand with Dr Stockton: Advocate for Safer Canadian Healthcare – Canada · Change.org
