Dr. Mateer's leadership within his community is instrumental in improving healthcare access and delivery. His tireless advocacy led to the development of Sunshine Specialty Medical Clinic, a general internal medicine center for the management of acute and chronic adult illnesses, while also building a strong relationship with the Healthy Heart Institute in Red Deer to provide access to cardiac exams, Echocardiograms, and Exercise Stress Tests in Drumheller. Dr. Mateer's ability to bring these services directly to his rural community has provided ease of access to chronically ill and aging populations, helping hundreds of patients extended their lives with optimized medical management.

Dr. Mateer has demonstrated a genuine commitment to the Drumheller community by ensuring he improves access to care. As the only internist in his town, Dr. Mateer is notably always available to help regardless of the time of day. His active engagement fosters trust and strengthens the patient-physician relationship.
