Dr. Heather Armson is a clinician-educator with an international reputation for her contributions to Alberta’s health care education landscape. Completing her MD and family medicine residency, she later earned her master's degree in continuing education. For over four decades, Dr. Armson has played a pivotal role in raising the standards in the provision of education, research and quality health care.
Throughout her career, Dr. Armson has focused on enhancing patient care, research and education, playing a pivotal role in the development of the R2C2 Evidence-based Feedback Model. For over twenty-five years, Dr. Armson has been committed to direct contact with each of her learners while providing evidence-based educational principles and content. Many of her trainees are seen stepping into important educational roles, continuing the standards of excellence she has set. She has worked extensively on integrating international medicine graduates into Canadian medical education, increasing access to quality family physicians for all Canadians and holds a special interest in remediation work. Dr. Armson has worked extensively with struggling residents, seeing real-time results in the optimization of patient care provided by these physicians.
Dr. Armson has made a substantial contribution to the provision of healthcare in Alberta as a clinician-educator, researcher and administrator. By strengthening educational underpinning for learners and ensuring stressed and overwhelmed physicians can continue to contribute safely, she has developed a strong provision of quality, evidence-based care for all Albertans.
