Dr. Lauren Beaupre is a physical therapist, a professor and the Dr. David Magee Endowed Chair in Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation in the Department of Physical Therapy, with a joint appointment in the Division of Orthopedic Surgery, at the University of Alberta.
Her research interests are in outcome and health services research for people living with musculoskeletal conditions or recovering from orthopedic surgery. Dr Beaupre's primary areas of research are total joint arthroplasty and rehabilitation, hip fracture recovery and secondary fracture prevention. She has worked closely with Alberta Health Services to evaluate and implement provincial programs to improve the health outcomes of Albertans. Her current work focuses on using virtual care to allow rural Albertans’ access to musculoskeletal health care closer to home.
Dr. Beaupre is also a past President of the global Fragility Fracture Network (FFN), the first Canadian to hold this role (2022-2023). The FFN seeks to improve care of people experiencing a fragility fracture, including preventing the next fracture, regardless of where they live in the world.
