AMA welcomes Dr. Jennifer Bestard

The Alberta Medical Association is pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Bestard has officially assumed the role of Executive Vice President, Physician Workforce and Stewardship.

In this role, Dr. Bestard will lead strategic initiatives on behalf of the AMA to advance physician leadership, physician workforce planning and physician stewardship across Alberta’s health system. Her focus will include supporting physicians and their teams to: optimize clinical practice; lead improvement initiatives in collaboration with other health system partners; and participate in the design and implementation of new solutions that improve patient care and healthy working environments.

Dr. Bestard is a seasoned health care leader and accomplished neurologist with over a decade of experience in physician leadership, clinical operations, service delivery and performance improvement. Her previous roles include Central Zone Medical Director and Associate Medical Director of Clinical Operations on the Executive Leadership Team at Alberta Health Services (AHS). She holds an Executive Master of Business Administration, complementing her clinical expertise with strong strategic leadership capabilities. Since opening her neurology practice in Red Deer in 2009, Dr. Bestard has remained deeply committed to both clinical care and community education.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Bestard to the AMA and look forward to the leadership and insight she brings to this important role.
