In our August 2021 member survey we asked members: What can the AMA do for you? 

With over 1,300 respondents, there were more than 400 pages of survey comments and the following themes and specific topics emerged:

Seek fair compensation

  • Demand realistic virtual care codes/complex care compensation
  • Work toward income equity
  • Address problems with stipends and alternative relationship plans

COVID

  • Advocate for adequate public health measures
  • Address physician burnout
  • Advocate for PPE and COVID supports

Negotiate a master agreement

  • Secure stability for the profession
  • Ensure transparency in negotiations
  • Use a strong voice with government/AHS

Physician wellness and support

  • Expand and secure PFSP programs
  • Offer ARP support/guidance
  • Address challenges in locum coverage

Be our advocate

  • Advocate for the sustainability of family medicine/primary care and importance of the Patient's Medical Home
  • Engage in public communication/education that explains the state of health care in Alberta
  • Alert Albertans to the deteriorated situation in rural medicine
