AMA-ACTT has been proud to host the Primary Care Strategic Forum in various forms since 2006. As Alberta’s primary care landscape evolves, new opportunities are emerging and ACTT will no longer host a multi-day primary care conference. We are sharing this update to support partners and organizations as they plan budgets and upcoming activities. ACTT remains committed to fostering strong relationships and collaboration that have long defined Alberta’s primary care environment.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed over the years – most notably, our partners, presenters and the nearly 500 participants who joined us in 2025!
History of the Primary Care Strategic Forum
Hosted by AMA-ACTT, the Primary Care Strategic Forum was a multi-day conference focused on primary care transformation in Alberta and advancing the Patient’s Medical Home in an Integrated Health Neighbourhood.
The conference brought together physicians, PCN administrative board and operational leaders, AHS joint governance partners, multidisciplinary providers, including nurses, pharmacists and community health centres, as well as change agents, including physician champions and PCN practice facilitators.
The initial concept was created in 2004, with the first event occurring in 2006. It started as a one-day event with fewer than 70 attendees focused on Primary Care Networks. Since then, more than 30 Forums have taken place across Alberta under various names, including Accelerating Primary Care, PCN Physician Leads Forum, PCN Forum, Primary Care Initiative Forum and Change Agent Conference.
