Why quality matters

Dr. Rommens’ passion for quality metrics in clinical care stems from trying to bridge gaps in patient access to care and promote more standardized treatment. He is passionate about knowledge translation and education and understands that often the biggest barrier to improving care is the inadequate dissemination of quality research to those looking after patients. He sees quality metrics and their measurement as a way to drive this knowledge dissemination to improve care.

Beyond the bedside

Although in Calgary for most of his career, Dr. Rommens hails from small-town southeastern Alberta (Duchess) where he attended K-12 in the same school and grew up milking cows on a dairy farm.
