Quality Stewardship Committee

The Quality Stewardship Committee reviews anonymized physician practice patterns to identify opportunities to support clinical choices that improve care while safeguarding health system sustainability.

Overview

This physician-led committee provides evidence-informed recommendations that advance clinical best practices and elevate patient care. Together, they nurture an environment of continuous learning where peers support peers to strengthen practice, enhance value and contribute to a more sustainable health system.

Data reviews

The Quality Stewardship Committee receives anonymized data from the Resource Stewardship & Optimization Working Group and AMA partners, which they analyze to detect unusual patterns and highlight opportunities for education.

Physician identifiers will remain confidential and will never be visible to committee members or AMA staff. 

Reporting structure and scope

This committee reports to the AMA’s Physician Workforce & Stewardship branch. It operates independently from the Government of Alberta and College of Physicians & Surgeons.

Allegations of professional misconduct, cases under government compliance review and patient complaints are out of scope.
