Section of Rural Medicine Enhancement Program

The Section of Rural Medicine’s Enhancement Program was established to help rural-origin students who are applying to medical school. It is intended to assist students to prepare for the medical school interview and improve their chances of being admitted. The program is available for students applying to any medical school regardless of whether it’s the first application or the tenth. The primary requirement is that students must have a reasonable connection to a rural community.

Thank you to all applicants for your interest in the 2026 Enhancement Program. This program is offered in February or March annually. More details will be announced for the 2027 Enhancement Program in early January.

How it works

Participants will receive an introduction to Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs), discuss trends in rural medicine, and participate in a mock MMI.

There is no cost to participate in the program, however, the number of spaces is limited. Priority will be given to individuals who have received an invitation for an interview at a medical school, on a first come, first serve basis. Proof of an interview invitation may be requested.
