Highlighting dedicated ACTT Physician Leads and their contributions to advancing health care
Dr. Usha Maharaj

What is something people may not know about you?
I am shy.
What appealed to you about becoming an APL?
I wanted to use my skills to help physicians reach their own professional goals. It's a delightful bonus to learn from fellow physicians and other professionals who bring a variety of their own skills!
What has been your favourite part about being an APL?
I was a presenter in my first webinar! I was able to learn in a supported
environment with the help of the ACTT team; what a kind and generous group. I did not need all the answers and could learn and succeed while simultaneously sharing my skill set. I could dare to try as part of this group.
What are you looking forward to doing in the future as an APL?
I look forward to what I can bring to fellow physicians through innovation and creativity,
specifically around a culture of compassion when encountering conflict. I am shy
and I wonder how many others have so much to offer but do not see themselves as
someone who can contribute. I would love to reach even one fellow colleague - our
profession is all the richer when we each get to share our skills proudly.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I am grateful to be a member of a group that has a genuine desire to be
constructive, positive and solution-minded. There is a culture of the possible and it is
my sincere hope these beliefs can be shared more broadly.
