The AMA has launched a physician-led resource stewardship initiative to influence smarter, more sustainable care. Through two key committees — the Quality Stewardship Committee and the Peer Review Billing Committee — physicians will review anonymized data and provide recommendations that shape best-in-class clinical and billing practices.
How it works
Both committees operate independently from the Government of Alberta and College of Physicians & Surgeons, advancing quality clinical and billing practices while fostering a supportive space for professional growth. This work is a joint initiative between our Resource Stewardship & Optimization (RSO) working group and government, with physicians in the driver’s seat.
If required, a third-party partner will handle individual member communications to maintain confidentiality. Individual physician identifiers will never be seen by the committees, RSO or AMA staff.
Allegations of professional misconduct, cases under government compliance review and patient complaints are managed by other bodies. These matters are out of scope for Peer Review.
Committees
