Service Event Reporting (SER), or shadow billing, is a Primary and Preventative Health Services (PPHS) accountability tool which requires participating physicians to submit claims reporting using Schedule of Medical Benefit (SOMB) codes and approved cARP Service Codes (S-codes).
SER provides PPHS with a complete picture of program services delivered through the cARP; it is also used to determine future program funding. Using a billing sheet template for each specialty is an effective tool to ensure complete and consistent reporting.
See AMA's suggested template below and Section 2.6.4: Billing Sheet Development in AMA's Implementation Guide for more information.
