AMA Youth Run Club (YRC)

A partnership of the AMA and Ever Active Schools, the AMA Youth Run Club is a school-based, inclusive physical activity and healthy living program that has been bringing youth, school communities and AMA members together in health promotion since 2013.

How can I support the Youth Run Club?
As a physician, resident or medical student, you serve as a source of good health inspiration and education to your patients and communities. The YRC frequently has volunteer opportunities available for AMA members, such as giving a talk or facilitating a presentation on the value of physical activity/healthy living to students. During the pandemic, presentations and talks are taking place virtually.

AMA Youth Run Club Sponsors
We gratefully acknowledge the generosity of AMA YRC sponsors: gold-level sponsor, Alberta Blue Cross; silver-level sponsor MD Financial Management & Scotiabank; and in-kind sponsor: Canadian Tire Jumpstart. Learn more about the YRC’s sponsorship partners here.

AMA Youth Run Club ambassadors
In 2015, shortly after the Youth Run Club was introduced, we initiated an ambassador program. From our beginnings with Paula Findlay (Olympic Tri-Athlete) and Tim Berrett (Olympic Race Walker), the ambassador program has expanded to include many more outstanding athletes and representatives of sport in Alberta.

Health advocacy opportunities: Be an AMA Youth Run Club CHAMPion
You don’t need to be a runner to get involved with the YRC. You can also get into a school and connect with children, teachers and your community by giving a health advocacy talk.
Get involved with the AMA YRC.
