Quick update on Board activity

November 10, 2022

Dr. Fredrykka Rinaldi, AMA PresidentDear Members,

The Board of Directors met October 27-28. It was a full agenda focused on implementing the new agreement and the implications for AMA business planning. I’ve written since then regarding some payments arising from the agreement. The Board also discussed:

  • Activity around agreement components, including: year-one allocation of fee increase; income equity; review of daily visit caps, virtual care code for mental health; Rural Remote Northern Program and Business Costs Program.
  • Early direction for the primary care task force under the Modernizing Alberta’s Primary Health Care System (MAPS) initiative.
  • An update on the Alberta Surgical Initiative.
  • Appointments to new committees under the agreement.

There is a lot going on and you need to know what we are doing and how you will be affected. I will update you as often as I can on these topics and other things the Board will be addressing. I intend to keep content as brief as possible while telling you what you need to know.

You can email me via president@albertadoctors.org. You can also comment on this letter on the AMA website.
