Stay informed about income equity

Dr. Fredrykka Rinaldi, AMA President

Dear Members,

You will have received an Income Equity Initiative Update from our AMA Compensation Committee Co-Chairs yesterday. I am writing to encourage members to review this update including the linked videos.

This project was initiated by AMA physician leaders through the Representative Forum and the Board has relied on the AMACC to carry out the work. We are looking forward to Fall RF to determine how we proceed now that the measure is fully developed. If supported, next steps will include implementation of a dispute resolution process followed by member ratification.

Please take a few minutes to reacquaint yourselves with the Income Equity Initiative. You can visit the IEI page of the AMA website for information, including IEI Updates from our AMACC Co-Chairs, videos, studies and other background information.

This will be an ongoing conversation and we need all members to be part of it.

You are always welcome to share your thoughts with me. You can email me via president@albertadoctors.org. You can also comment on this letter on the AMA website.

Regards,

fred Rinaldi, MD, CCFP, FCFP, LLB, MBA, MPA(HSA), BCom
President, Alberta Medical Association

    Seriously,
I have been doing this 27 years and we never have seen serious input into micro allocation. If any of this was working you wouldn’t have such an exodus within family medicine. Walk in doctors billing complete medical on all visits, hospitalists getting stipends and ffs and billing 23 to 45 thousand per week and no overhead. The 13.99J code issues. Tasks that family doctors are used for that are a waste of a Primary Care doctors time but pay as much as the office with no overhead. No compensation for having a panel. PCNs sucking money away from us with little benefit. Sorry a couple of videos doesn’t cut it!

I challenge you to post this.

while all professional and general government workers looking into how they increase their income facing the insane inflation, and despite only the physician of Alberta who did not get any raise at all, you (AMA) and your office /physician who is not practicing or semi-retiring still digging into the none sense called INCOME EQUITY INITIATIVE, what an insane is this, is it to please the UCP government? the same government that a few days prior to COVID forced a 26% cut on physician income.
we have to make a collation and group up as in Ontario and create another body or association better represents physicians' rights, AMA has done nothing except hypnotize email after email of their failed negotiating with a far-right anti-doctors government. Alberta slowly became hell for physicians, it has always Alberta dependent on the migration of physicians from other provinces who are not in love with the 6 months of winter but when used to be paid better, fix the payment you fix the health system, physicians work fewer hours because they can not tolerate expenses and post COVID patients demand and not getting the right compensation.
simple math, hair cut= $40, 03.03A = $ 38.8 that is what physicians get, shame on you.
