Red Deer Kicks-off AMA dr2dr

First region in Canada to implement secure messaging

June 2, 2016

On Thursday, May 26, Red Deer started on the journey to axe the fax. Turnout was excellent at the three information sessions held to kick-off the Limited Production Rollout (LPR) of the AMA dr2dr Secure Messaging System. Participants included physicians and office representatives from both specialist and general practice clinics.
When the AMA dr2dr system was presented, participants could begin to see specific benefits of secure messaging, whether it was to stop the frustration inherent to the faxing process or to find a solution for physicians on call.

The goal of the Red Deer LPR is to have as many physicians and clinics as possible switch from using the fax and phone to using dr2dr over the coming months. This will give the participants and the project team a good sense of how secure messaging will change, enhance and add value to the physician office workflow.

Over the coming weeks the AMA dr2dr Secure Messaging implementation team will continue to reach out to Red Deer area physicians where they will hold more group information sessions to provide in-office demonstrations and presentations.

Free system access: limited time

Remember, after the free trial period ends September 30, the subscription price is $34.99/month. This cost includes the physician and all reporting clinic staff. With the new e-consult fee code, bill for one e-consultation request ($32.43) and you’ve basically recovered your subscription cost. At the other end of secure e-consultation, bill as the receiving physician ($76.27) and cover two months of your AMA dr2dr subscription cost. Talk about good business sense!
