First retroactive fee-for-service payments coming January 13

January 5, 2023

Dr. Fredrykka Rinaldi, AMA President

Dear Members,

The first of two fee-for-service retroactive payments for the 2022-23 fiscal year will be deposited January 13, 2023. Alberta Health has released a bulletin with details on this retroactive payment, including timing.

Later this spring, there will be a follow-up bulletin, outlining process and timelines on a second retroactive payment covering the December to March timeframe, plus any prior services that had not been claimed by December 9.

We anticipate that the 2022-23 rate increases will be reflected in the Schedule of Medical Benefits on a go-forward basis on April 1, 2023. Applicable increases to clinical Alternative Relationship Plans and the Academic Medicine and Health Services Program are being worked on. These retroactive payments will be announced in a future bulletin.

You are always welcome to share your thoughts with me. You can email me via president@albertadoctors.org. You can also comment on this letter on the AMA website.
