Zone Medical Staff Associations (ZMSAs)

Zone Medical Staff Associations are a crucial layer of representation in zone-related matters and are the representative bodies in matters related to Alberta Health Services Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules.
What are ZMSAs?
ZMSAs are:
- Independent organizations with their own governing bylaws.
- Mandated by the AHS medical staff bylaws and aligned with the AMA.
- The zonal representative body for physicians, both those with AHS appointments and those without.
Membership in ZMSAs is voluntary. Which zone am I in?
Covenant Health has medical staff bylaws similar to those of AHS but has its own medical organizational structure with separate staff associations. These associations can affiliate with the larger ZMSA.
